We are a Spirit-filled Non-Denominational Church that is not affiliated with any other church, but loves to work with any church to accomplish the mission God has sent us. If you'd like to get more familiar with us you can go listen to our recent messages, here.
Yes, restored. The building was once abandoned and damaged, but every day work is being done to restore it.
Is That It?
No, we intended to start a Bible School just as there used to be so that we can train up and send out people to start churches and reach people for God.
The Building was once was a cornerstone in the city of Des Moines, and is being restored to be that once again.

Non-denominational, Spirit-filled, Bible believing
The Kathedral is a non-denominational church located in the heart of Des Moines, IA seeking to ignite a revival in "all of Iowa and every nation."
God has directed Pastor Kenney to re-establish a church and Bible campus (at The Kathedral) in the heart of Des Moines, as their used to be.
In fact, the church building was built in early 1900's after a tent revival on this property happened in the late 1800's. Since the church was built in the early 1900's it has repeatedly been one of the largest spirit-filled churches in Des Moines, and we seek to make it that again with God's help.
We believe in seeking God's heart and growing in our relationship with Him on an individual basis and as a community.
We believe that in our services you should always have the opportunity to worship God, give back to God through tithe and offering, and to learn and grow in your understanding of God so that we can develop and grow into mature men and woman of God.
We also believe that the same power of the Holy Spirit that was manifested in the early church after Jesus died on the cross and rose again is still alive and present today, and actively works in our lives.
What We Believe
According To The Word
The Bible is the inspired Word of God, the product of holy men who spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. The New Covenant, as recorded in the New Testament, we accept as our infallible guide in matters pertaining to conduct and doctrine.
Scriptures: I Timothy 3:16, I Thessalonians 2:13, II Peter 1:21
Our God is one, but manifested in three persons – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, being co-equal.
Scriptures: Philippians 2:6
God the Father
God the Father is greater than all; the sender of the Word (Logos) and the Begetter.
Scriptures: John 14:28, John 16:28, John 1:14
The Son is the Word flesh-covered, the One Begotten, and has existed with the Father from the beginning.
Scriptures: John 1:1, John 1:18, John 1:14
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit proceeds forth from both the Father and the Son and is eternal.
Scriptures: John 15:26
We believe that evangelism is a responsibility and Biblical mandate of the church and each Christian.
Scriptures: Romans 10:9-15, Acts 1:8, Matthew 28:18-20, I Peter 3:15
Man: His Fall and Redemption
Man is a created being, made in the likeness and image of God, but through Adam’s transgression and fall, sin came into the world. “All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” “As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one.” Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was manifested to undo the work of the devil. He gave His life and shed His blood to redeem and restore man back to God.
Scriptures: Romans 5:14, Romans 3:23, Romans 3:10, I John 3:8
Salvation is the gift of God to man, separate from works and the law, and is made operative by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, producing works acceptable to God.
Scriptures: Ephesians 2:8
Eternal Life and the New Birth
Man’s first step toward salvation is godly sorrow that worketh repentance. The New Birth is necessary to all men and, when experienced, produces eternal life.
Scriptures: II Corinthians 7:10, I John 5:12, John 3:3-5
Baptism in water is by immersion, is a direct commandment of our Lord, and is for believers only. The ordinance is a symbol of the Christian’s identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.
Scriptures: Matthew 28:19, Romans 6:4, Colossians 2:12, Acts 8:36-39
Baptism in the Holy Ghost
The Baptism in the Holy Ghost and fire is a gift from God as promised by the Lord Jesus Christ to all believers in this dispensation and is received subsequent to the New Birth. This experience is accompanied by the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Holy Spirit Himself gives utterance.
Scriptures: Matthew 3:11, John 14:16-17, Acts 1:8, Acts 2:38-39, Acts 19:1-7, Acts 2:4
The Bible teaches that without holiness no man can see the Lord. We believe in the doctrine of sanctification as a definite, yet progressive work of grace, commencing at the time of regeneration and continuing until the consummation of salvation at Christ’s return.
Scriptures: Hebrews 12:14, I Thessalonians 5:23, II Peter 3:18, II Corinthians 3:18, Philippians 3:12-14, I Corinthians 1:30
Healing is for the physical ills of the human body and is wrought by the power of God through the prayer of faith, and by the laying on of hands. It is provided for in the atonement of Christ, and is the privilege of every member of the church today.
Scriptures: Mark 16:18, James 5:14-16, I Peter 2:24, Matthew 8:17, Isaiah 53:4-5
Resurrection of the Just and the Return of Our Lord
The angels said to Jesus’ disciples, “…this same Jesus…shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” His coming is imminent. When He comes, “…the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air…”
Scriptures: Acts 1:11, I Thessalonians 4:16-17
Following the Tribulation, He shall return to earth as King of kings, and Lord of lords, and together with His saints, who shall be kings and priests, He shall reign a thousand years.
Scriptures: Revelation 20:6
Hell and Eternal Retribution
The one who physically dies in his sins without accepting Christ is hopelessly and eternally lost in the Lake of Fire and, therefore, has no further opportunity of hearing the Gospel or repenting. The Lake of Fire is literal. The terms “eternal” and “everlasting,” used in describing the duration of punishment of the damned in the Lake of Fire, carry the same thought and meaning of endless existence as used in denoting the duration of joy and ecstasy of saints in the presence of God.
Scriptures: Hebrews 9:27, Revelation 19:20
At The Kathedral we will always give you an opportunity to give through tithes and offering because tithes and offering is opportunity to use what God has given you to worship Him, and in turn give Him more avenues to bless you.
Gift To Community Ministry
If you would like to get behind and support what we are doing in our daily community ministry you can give here, just include the purpose of this giving in the memo.
If you are interested in helping out with one of these or our other programs, or even helping out in the Sunday service either let us know in this form or e-mail us.
We feed nearly a 100 school aged kids when school is not in session for the lunch meals. This program gives us an opportunity to help the community, take care of a need and let us be the hands and feet of Jesus.
We volunteer in our local school communities as tutors to help raise up the next generation to be leaders.
